Not Only About the Money!

It is so Awesome when Businesses like Ridgeback Wines cares about more than just money! They are are partnering with Home of Hope on projects to help them raise funds to sustain their ongoing Awesome work in the community.

Here is what Hayley Els Gimingham from Home of Hope said:

We had a lovely day out at Ridgeback Wines (www.ridgebackwines.co.za) on Thursday with David Rabie who is in charge of marketing and International sales. We were also privileged to get a tour of the farm as we chatted about his vision for the future.

I can personally attest to the stunning, peaceful gardens and amazing bird life. If you take a short hike into the vineyards you will be met by breathtaking views of the mountain ranges that encircle the farm. My pictures do not do it justice.

The food was beautifully presented and our taste buds all give it a 5-star rating. The friendly service from the staff added to our enjoyment. I encourage you all to take a drive out to Ridgeback wines for a meal or wine tasting. You will not be sorry.

Home of Hope is looking forward to forging a partnership with Ridgeback Wines in the near future…. more to come.

Well, Cape Town Is Awesome wants to thank Ridgeback Wines for their generosity on behalf of all of Cape Town – You are AWESOME!

We hope to get out there soon to do a proper review and get lots of Photos and Video for you but, in the meanwhile, here’s a bit more on Ridgeback Wines from their website:

Our Labels

Three labels are produced on the Ridgeback farm. Our premium label is Ridgeback emphasising top quality and presentation of both red and white single varietals and blends.  Vansha is our second label focusing on good quality red and white blends.  The third label is our easy quaffing Lion Hound, where we are looking for good quality everyday wines at affordable prices.

A Bit of History

We produced our first white wine in 2000, and our five-star award-winning Ridgeback Shiraz, created in 2001 was the first red. Ridgeback Wines has built on an impressive foundation and has been awarded numerous accolades and medals since 2001, both locally and abroad. Our winemaker, Toit Wessels, goes from strength to strength, refusing to settle for anything less than the best being released from the cellar.

In 2003, a modern winery was constructed with a 300-ton capacity. At present, the total production is 16,000 cases, with large growth potential. The winery was complemented by the construction of a wine tasting facility which is perched over a large duck pond. Guests can view numerous breeds of duck languidly cruising the surface of the pond or fighting for a piece of cracker, which they enthusiastically accept when offered.

A Perfect Combination

Fantastic wine is the result of a combination of numerous favourable factors existing concurrently and giving rise to a product of an impeccable standard. Our farm’s location, soils and slopes are well suited to red grapes, of which the mainstay is Shiraz, followed by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Mourvèdre, Petit Verdot and Grenache. In addition, our white grapes are expertly produced examples of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Viognier.

So get out there and support Ridgeback Wines!
